What We Do
NGVPA PROVIDES FIVE PRIMARY SERVICES
1. Establishing Codes and Standards – NGVPA provides the non-partisan forum for interested parties to contribute ideas to improve national codes and standards for protection from gun violence. The code development process is open and consensus-based. Anyone can participate in their formation. They are reviewed periodically by volunteer committee members from the general public and from those with professional expertise.
2. Security Education/Training – Through its Prime Protection Foundation arm, NGVPA helps make safer places by teaching about how and why gun violence occurs. It offers training on a wide range of topics to ensure people understand what can be done to prevent gun violence and what to do in the case of an active shooter.
3. Site Evaluations – Through its Prime Protection Foundation arm, NGVPA will provide experts to determine if there are any security weaknesses and to make recommendations for improvements.
4. Vendor Evaluations – Through its Prime Protection Foundation arm, NGVPA examines and rates equipment/service vendors, such as camera systems, remote locking systems, bullet proof glass for windows, keycards, social media monitoring systems and more. It is often able to negotiate reduced prices from vendors to help budgets go further.
5. Fundraising – Through its Prime Protection Foundation arm, NGVPA seeks private, government, state, county, municipal, and foundation funding to help underwrite the costs of safety products and services when appropriate.
