About THE National Gun Violence Protection Association

The National Gun Violence Protection Association (NGVPA) is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in response to the anger many feel about the rise of shootings in schools, places of worship, and other venues. It focuses its efforts on establishing and improving National Standards for protection from gun violence. Through its Prime Protection Foundation arm, it uses grant proceeds and tax deductible donations to furnish selected locations with life-saving products and services meant to prevent or reduce the harm done by gun violence. NGVPA provides its supporters a way to take action to help save lives and to lessen the feelings of helplessness and grief experienced after each senseless attack.

On April 20, 1999, a school shooting occurred at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, taking the lives of 12 students and one teacher, while wounding 21 others. On November 5, 2017 a gunman entered the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing 26 people and wounding 22 others. On Valentine’s Day 2018, a shooter walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 14 students, 3 staff members and wounding 17 others. Unfortunately, many more shootings have occurred since and more will occur in the future.

We may never be able to stop all such tragedies, but steps can be taken to reduce the carnage. There are standards for fire prevention, building construction, highway transportation, aviation and almost everything else where protecting lives is fundamental. In particular, national standards are needed to “harden” schools and places of worship, which will help save the lives of innocent children and religious congregants. NGVPA is the non-partisan forum created for that purpose.
